Classes offered
No matter what part of your yoga journey you are on, we have a class for you.
Vinyasa
Vinyasa yoga is a popular style of yoga that emphasizes linking breath with movement. In Sanskrit, "vinyasa" means "to place in a special way," and in the context of yoga, it refers to a sequence of poses that are performed in a continuous, flowing manner.
Yin
Yin yoga is a slower-paced style of yoga that involves holding passive poses for an extended period of time, typically ranging from 3 to 5 minutes or longer. The practice is designed to target the deeper connective tissues of the body, such as the ligaments, tendons, and fascia, rather than the muscles, which are the primary focus of other styles of yoga.
Ashtanga
Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and physically demanding style of yoga that was popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the 20th century. The practice consists of a set sequence of postures, or asanas, which are designed to purify and strengthen the body and calm the mind.
Types of Yoga Practice
Yoga is a holistic system of physical, mental, and spiritual practices that originated in ancient India over 5,000 years ago. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj,” which means to yoke or unite, and the practice is designed to integrate and harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.
The physical aspect of yoga involves various postures, or asanas, that are designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Breath control, or pranayama, is also an important part of yoga, as it helps to calm the mind and increase awareness of the body. Meditation, or dhyana, is another important aspect of yoga, as it helps to cultivate a sense of inner peace and connect with a higher consciousness.
01
Vinyasa
Our experienced teacher will lead students through a series of poses, or “asanas,” while coordinating the breath with each movement. The transitions between poses are often fluid and dynamic, and the pace of the class may be faster than in other styles of yoga.
While vinyasa yoga can be challenging, it is accessible to people of all levels, as modifications and variations can be made to suit individual needs and abilities.
02
Yin Yoga
In a typical yin yoga class, students will hold each pose for several minutes while focusing on breathing deeply and relaxing into the stretch. The poses are typically seated or lying down, and props such as blocks, blankets, or bolsters may be used to support the body and help maintain the pose.
03
Ashtanga
In a typical Ashtanga yoga class, students follow a specific sequence of postures, known as the “Primary Series,” which consists of standing poses, seated poses, forward bends, backbends, twists, and inversions. The sequence is performed in a flowing and continuous manner, with each movement coordinated with the breath.
